My favorite Turkey Brine

There’s nothing I love more than turkey legs during the holidays our family absolutely loves the legs and thigh meat. You can do this brine on a whole turkey or just on pieces of the turkey that you want. I love making extra turkey then freezing the left overs for soups.

For this brine I used:

Sliced oranges

Sliced apples

Fresh rosemary

Fresh thyme

This brine kit- Spice Islands Turkey Brine kit

Directions:

I mix the kit with water first. Next, I cut up oranges, apples, or lemon to give the brine flavor. If I have fresh herbs on hand then I will use thyme or rosemary in this brine. Lastly I allow the brine to sit for 24 hours covered in my fridge. If your doing a whole turkey then you have to make sure you have a big enough pot to hold everything. The next day I cook the turkey in the oven. The turkey would also be super tasty in a Traeger Smoker. I follow directions on how long I should cook the meat based on the size of it.

Bon Apetit!
